How should I start a psychogenealogical study on my own.

By Dr. Guillermo Reynoso Palomar.

Psychogenealogy helps a person understand how to release inherited “bad” patterns, as well as take advantage of “good” patterns and live out their own destiny, as well as pass on a healthier legacy to subsequent generations. It also helps to understand the origins of limiting beliefs, low self-esteem, and unwanted personality traits, including blocks in relationships and the path to success.

1.- The first step is, of course, to identify the genPsychogenealogy helps a person understand how to release inherited “bad” patterns, as well as take advantage of “good” patterns and live out their own destiny, as well as pass on a healthier legacy to subsequent generations.ealogical line up to the fourth generation.

This genealogical tree must include all members of the generational line, if any of them are unknown, then it must be investigated as a good genealogist does in documents such as birth, baptism, marriage, death certificates, inheritances, war records. and any document anywhere they can be found. It is truly a detective and fascinating work according to my son Erik who entrusted me. A family tree is more than just a drawing or a collection of names, dates, and family history. It can be a powerful tool in understanding and healing a person’s circumstances and problems.

2.- Once this tree is completed, then for each member the result of the investigation is noted in:

Role in the family: The strong part of the family? Or the conciliatory party, the support in stages of difficulty or the dependent party, or the problematic party, the single mother, the single father, etc.

Contracts within the family, Support, counselor, caregiver, provider or whoever does not appear in any contract within the family, and the like.

Environment in which it was developed. Sick family, wealthy family, poverty, family immersed in alcoholism or drugs, wars, economic crises, pandemics, natural disasters, hospices, abandonment, violence and the like.

Relevant aspects of the time in which the ancestors lived such as wars, revolutions, global or local economic crises, immigration, totalitarianism, discrimination, etc.

Exemplary roles, secrets, taboos, positive characteristics, and the like.

3.- When the framework is completed, the systems that make up the past can be understood and which of them have been transmitted to this day. So now it will be possible to identify what inherited must be preserved, what must be modified, what must be eliminated, what must be replaced by the present and thus lay the foundation for the next generation.
